      Closing Day 2004

2 hours east and in the middle of nowhere I arrived to find a empty parking-lot, a welcome sight for the last day of fishing on Lake Lenice . 4 other fishing buddies would soon arrive, but for now the lake was mine. Lenice did not disappoint me, I had fish on within a few casts and they would continue hitting all day. Ryan and the others spent the day fly fishing and were very successful , I fly fished for a hour or so but my new "Megabass" rod and "Tica brand" "Taurus" reel  (wow what a combo) proved to be my ticket to many fish today, a little "Kastmaster" and blue fox spoon fooled all but the wariest fish. Ryan and I were forced to watch 5 -6 brown trout in the 4-6 pound range cruise the shore looking for a meal with barely a glance at our lures and flies, oh well they will be bigger next spring. The end of the west island produced my fish of the day, a beautiful  brown about 4 pounds or so and the very next cast.... another brown about 16" .  Sun setting and a chill in the air I started for the other-side of the lake to take the short walk out, landing 3 more fish on the way across, what a perfect end to a season at what I would consider one of the best trout lakes in the state. ill be ready for the opener march 1st 2005 !
